Wittenberg 1525. The unexpected marriage of Martin Luther to Katharina von Bora has no fairytale ending. A sign of apostasy to their enemies, and a source of consternation to their friends, it sends shock waves throughout Europe.

Yet as they face persecution, poverty, war, plague and family tragedy, Katharina’s resilience and strength of character shines through.

While this book can be read as a standalone, it is also the powerful conclusion to her story, begun in Katharina: Deliverance.

Authentic, immersive and packed with drama.

About the Author:
Margaret Skea is an Hawthornden Fellow and award-winning novelist and short story writer. Short story credits include Neil Gunn, Fish, Mslexia, Rubery and the Historical Novel Society. Her stories have been published in print magazines, anthologies and online in the UK and the US, as well as a short personal collection.

Growing up in ‘The Troubles’ in Northern Ireland much of her writing is concerned with living within conflict, and the pressures that places on families, relationships and on personal integrity. All of which are relevant to the lives of the Luthers and therefore central to her Katharina Series: Deliverance and Fortitude semi-fictionalised biography based on the life of Katharina von Bora, Martin Luther’s wife. Deliverance placed 2nd in the international Historical Novel Society New Novel Award 2018 and the sequel, Fortitude, was shortlisted for the UK BookBrunch prize for independently published fiction 2020.

She is passionate about providing an authentic ‘you are there’ experience for readers and relishes the challenge of bringing to life significant, but shadowy historical figures.
