DAILY LENT REFLECTIONS PB

Many people feel that they ought to do something special during Lent but are unsure quite what that something should be. To deepen our devotional life we need a focus for our thoughts, spiritual food to nurture our faith and discipleship. Daily Lent Reflections provides just that or, rather, makes more accessible the spiritual sustenance already offered by Jesus in what must surely be some of his best-known and best-loved words: the Sermon on the Mount. For each of the 40 days of Lent there are readings, reflections, prayers and points to ponder. The themes covered include forgiving others, doing that little bit extra in God's service, choosing the way of the kingdom instead of the often-enticing 'way of the world', seeking God's will rather than our own, valuing and respecting others. How do we work out such ideas in terms of daily life? What are their implications for us today? Those are the kinds of question this book sets out to answer, bringing home the challenge, promise, encouragement and inspiration implicit within the teaching of Jesus, teaching that must surely provide the clearest blueprint for Christian living in all the Bible.
