This book was recommended by Bob & Eileen Kilpatrick as part of the '50 years- 50 people- 50 books!' series. Here is Bob & Eileen's full message and recommendation:

When were you involved in GLO and in what role?

‘We joined GLO in 1973 at the invitation of Colin Tilsley who was living in the UK at that time. We began by organising missions in the UK as well as taking teams abroad to France and Italy over the next few years.

‘At the same time we felt a call to begin a Christian bookshop and this happened when we rented a shop in Hamilton where the first GLO bookshop was set up. During this period we were able to rent Dalziel North Parish church, halls and manse in Motherwell. Over the following year we moved into the manse at GLO Centre and transferred the bookshop to the church. Then began a period of renovating the buildings, having conferences at the centre and taking teams abroad.

‘These early years of GLO were exciting as well as challenging as many young people became involved in mission.’

Why have you recommended 'L’Abri'?

‘Their life of faith and the way they used their home in Switzerland to meet people and share their faith saw amazing fruit. Their purpose was “To show forth by demonstration in their life and work the existence of God”. They were an example to us in how we can open our home, whether at the GLO Centre or elsewhere, and share and express the love of God to people who are in need and bring them to Jesus.’

With great thanks to Bob & Eileen for their recommendation for the '50 years- 50 people- 50 books!' series
